Thai Work Permit and Business Visas for Employees

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggest, we are discussing Thai Business Visas and Work Permits. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article in the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: The ever-changing world of Thai Work Permits for foreigners. Quoting directly: "If offered a post by registered company or school, the prospective employee needs a Non-Immigrant B (Business) Visa issued by a Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad. The employer should provide the bulk of the required documentation, supplemented by the employee's personal data and confirmed qualifications. If the employer declines to take that basic preparatory responsibility, it can be assumed that the offer of a job is not sincere and that a Work Permit is a fantasy."

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to speculate on that. Look documentation associated with Work Permits can be cumbersome to deal with and folks may be acting in good faith and it is just kind of a prolonged process. So I wouldn't just dismiss out of hand a job offer from somebody who is having a hard time putting together the documentation. That said, use your own rule of reason if you will. You are going to kind of know, if it's a couple of days well that's one thing, if it is months on end that folks can't put something together, then maybe bells should be going off.

This is an interesting excerpt. I urge those who are watching this video, go read that article in detail, a lot of information in there. What we are talking about specifically from this excerpt and in this video, the thrust of this video, is B Visas for employees and teachers. Teachers almost have their own separate criteria associated with Business Visa issuance and we have dealt with that in the past; it's a different animal than a standard Business Visa. A standard Business Visa even for an employee doesn't have all the documentation that may be necessary for a teacher necessarily, so they do look very different in terms of how they process. But long story short, there is a lot of documentation associated with Business Visa status in Thailand especially for those who are looking to work for a company. Oftentimes an employer is going to be able to provide this but sometimes we get contacted by folks who are having an issue with it and we end up intervening and assisting but in most cases that doesn't necessarily come up.

So again, the thing to take away from this video, the Business Visa process for employees and possible teachers in Thailand is going to differ slightly from the Business Visa process associated with setting up a Company in Thailand or certain types of specialized work here in the Kingdom.
