Thailand Deporting 4 Men Who "Broke Into the Emergency Room"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, well as the thumbnail suggests, it's another one of these "Foreigners Behaving Badly" videos. Let me just dig into it. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Thailand deporting 4 Israelis after rampage at Pai Hospital. Quoting directly: "They have been charged with conspiring to threaten, harass or annoy others." I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail. They get into all the backstory but the sort of the nexus of the incident is what I want to focus on. So I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article for more details, again Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the title: Thailand deporting 4 Israelis after rampage at Pai Hospital. Quoting further: "The charges amount to disturbing the peace or risking the safety of the public and thus disqualify them from holding a Thai Visa, said Pol Lt Col Wichai Panna, an inspector with the Mae Hong Son Immigration Police. The arrests stemmed from a recent social media post by a doctor at Pai Hospital. She said the incident followed a motorcycle crash that injured another Israeli. The 4 men broke into the Emergency Room.." - the nexus of this, it's like what? - "..the four men broke into the Emergency Room and went on a violent rampage," - why? - quoting further: "..causing damage to the hospital's property. The extent of the damage was not specified." I mean were they on some kind of drugs or something? I mean, and I'm here to tell you for those out there, the sort of anti-cannabis people, "oh that's what's going to happen", yeah not so much. I don't know if you have ever been around anybody that's been imbibing on Cannabis, but they are not real inclined to break into a hospital and start rampaging around. It's just not really what's going on there. That said, there are other substances that can cause people who do all kinds of crazy things, hence the question. That said, quoting further: "The doctor said the February 2nd incident" - aww man, they ruined Groundhog Day, - quoting further: "the doctor said the February 2nd incident was not the first time the hospital had encountered rude, aggressive, and lawbreaking Israeli visitors, adding that she felt unsafe working there and they ultimately end up resigning." Well wherever they come from, I mean honestly why come and be ‘rude, aggressive and lawbreaking” in a place that isn't your country. I don't care where you're coming from, you come to my idyllic place where there's just the natives hanging around, living their lives on their own land and you want to come here and be "rude, aggressive and lawbreaking". Why? Why don't you go back to your own countries and be rude, aggressive and law breaking? Why do you need to bring that here? Quoting further: "..adding that she felt unsafe working there and may ultimately end up resigning. She said in her post that Pai District had become a hub for Israeli tourists with some of them illegally operating a motorbike riding school and others driving without licenses, resulting in a higher rate of road accidents. Her post sparked an outcry among netizens, especially local residents. It also prompted an order that local Police take further action against the four tourists."

I don't know what the background of any of this is, and there may be some underlying squabbling that this is sort of attaching on to and maybe metastasizing to something local. I don't know the underlying backstory, but what I do know is again, "four men broke into the Emergency Room and went on a violent rampage." I mean explain to me the story where anyone reasonable breaks into an Emergency Room to go on a violent rampage? Like again, where you hear these things where an altercation breaks out in a bar or even like a food market or something of this nature, it's like okay, people annoy each other, they rub up against each other the wrong way, they're in a public space, something happens. An Emergency Room is not a public space; you have to intentionally go there. You have to have, I hesitate to say it necessarily without looking at the underlying facts in an adjudicatory way, but I mean one has to ask the question, was there some level of malice of forethought? Like again, violence doesn't just sort of naturally occur in an Emergency Room, generally speaking. Again, I don't know the underlying facts, but I don't think it's reasonable in any context for people to go to some place to go on a violent rampage, especially some place that's designed, really is the antithesis of violence. They are designed to patch people up who have been through something and been hurt. So again, this is really sort of a strange situation.

Again, you can get into different nationalities, but I haven't ever seen the point of that. Different nationalities do kind of seem to tend to have their own set of issues, especially in an Immigration context here in Thailand. Some nationalities tend to overstay more, oddly enough, because I don't know why; they're just sort of absent-minded; their passport is such that they are kind of used to just being able to go wherever they want, stay wherever they want without really needing to worry about expiration of visas, expiration of lawful status and things. Again, different kinds of people, we reported recently the Russians have had issues over the past year or so with these unlicensed daycares. Now my personal opinion is I suspect they come by that honestly because they tend to all come, they charter flights in from like one town wherever they come from in Russia - especially Siberian Russia - and what we're talking about when we are saying "daycares" it's really probably just a group of folks from back home who will all kind of pool together and watch each other's kids and then it may become a little more formalized. That said, as I have discussed in other videos, the Thais have like a zero-tolerance policy on this in its entirety just because they don't want any opaque nexus points when it comes to children; that's just it. No offense to anybody, but that's just going to be the policy, that's how they look at it.

But again, getting into different foreigners, "oh, in this place we have problems with this person", when we got into the ‘beach bully’ thing, I tried to personally stay away from. There were all these underlying stories that we get into things and it's like look just look at the case at hand and let's see how this works out. Again, that's not the point of these videos and not really at all the point of this one specifically. Really honestly, I don't think it gets any worse in kind of the "Behaving Badly" category than intentionally going to an Emergency Room to go on a violent rampage. Maybe we could refrain from that if nothing else, here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
