Thailand Travel Tips for 2021

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing travel tips for traveling to Thailand in 2021. This is just a general video for folks who are looking to come to Thailand. I am not making this video for proposed expats or people that are looking to, for lack of a better term immigrate to Thailand. So folks who are trying to come here for retirement or Business Visa purposes look to other videos on this channel. I am specifically talking about tourists coming to Thailand and yes there are Tourist Visa avenues open to folks from abroad, perhaps the Special Tourist Visa perhaps that may apply to you in your specific set of circumstances. Again it is country specific or for example if you are from one of the Western countries, for example the United States, it may be possible to utilize a Tourist Visa.

The first thing to understand is that the requirements are far more stringent than they have been in the past. It is not currently possible to simply come to Thailand and expect a "30-day stamp" on arrival or a 30-day visa on arrival or any type of Tourist Visa on arrival currently. That may change as 2021 progresses but at least for now here at the end of 2020 I think in the foreseeable future we are probably not looking at folks being able to come in on 30 day Visa exemption stamps for a while if ever. It is possible we may not see those come back at all. I think that is rather unlikely but again difficult to predict at this time.

Also keep in mind, bank balances, bank accounts even in a Tourist Visa context, this is now extremely important. Different countries have different rules but as noted in prior videos it looks like 500,000 Baht in a Thai bank account or the equivalent in local country in a bank account overseas is now going to be a requirement associated with tourists and travel visas to Thailand.

Finally, something to keep in mind at least as the time of the making of this video, there are still Alternative State Quarantine requirements here in Thailand and flight booking is a major concern as you still have to get what is called a Certificate of Entry in order to enter Thailand. This document sort of runs part and parcel, it runs in tandem with your actual Visa. So there is the Visa that provides your lawful status in the Kingdom and the Certificate of Entry that allows you to enter on a specific date.

All of this is very different compared to times past. If you feel overwhelmed about any of these documents or the overall process, it may be a good idea to contact a legal professional in order to gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
