TM.30 and Quarantine Issues in Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing TM30. For those unaware, we haven't discussed this topic in a long time; I think it is about at least 6 months probably more like a year.TM30 was once on the lips of many expats, often discussed over here because at one time it was onerous to deal with.

These days, the Thai Government does not seem to be taking it a serious, I should say the Immigration office it is not as prioritized as it once was. It is an extra document we often have to deal with when we are dealing with for example Visa extensions and things over here but at one time, especially the TM28 which has sort of been phased out, required folks to basically notify of any change in where they have been for more than 24 hours and that was sort of shelved regulatory.

Now where we are at right now and I get a lot of questions about this because people say "well I have got to go into a quarantine." Yeah you are actually TM30d into that Quarantine Hotel. That hotel is going to file a TM30, usually they can get online and do a data base and file it. Then after you come out, when you go to wherever you normally live presumably you need to go ahead and file a TM30 there especially if you are going to be extending status at some point in the future.

So TM30 is still alive and well. In my opinion it is much more of a formality compared to times past when it was actually quite a hassle. These days, yes it exists. Folks still need to deal with TM30 but it is not the onerous task that it once was.
