Tourism Revival in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Tourism Revival or hopeful Tourism Revival here in Thailand. I got to thinking of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya Mayor predicts Tourism Revival after CCSA lifts restrictions. Quoting directly: "Pattaya's new Mayor predicted a speedy recovery in the city's tourism industry now that Health Officials have removed nearly all Coronavirus restrictions." Quoting further: "Attending the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration's meeting in Bangkok Friday, Poramet Ngampichet said the end of Thailand Pass entry system, outdoor-mask mandate and limits on bar operating hours will help Pattaya become a lively tourist city again. While most of Pattaya's tourists currently are Thai, there is a noticeable increase in visitors from the Middle East, Europe, Singapore, Vietnam and India he said."

Yes it has been noticeable. I have even noticed it here in Bangkok, and I have been in Pattaya within the last couple of weeks and I have noticed, yeah we are starting to see some tourists back and it is a really good thing to see. Hopefully now with the end of Thailand Pass in the offing here at the end of June looking at July 1, and the end of the so-called Mask Mandates, which I have my issues with that from an analytical standpoint, I don't see why we have a Mask Mandate in a legal sense.

Leaving that aside, I definitely do think we have seen already the number of tourists go up and hopefully after July 1 and then after later weeks when we put the rest of this finally behind us, we will finally start seeing a real climb, real numbers increases in terms of Tourism and hopefully as noted in other videos, it is my belief having watched and observed over the past decade and a half here in Thailand that people tend to book their flights and things for the high season here, Christmas time in the West, the holiday season, they tend to book those flights and things here in the summer in order to come here during the high season. So these developments are certainly good and hopefully we will see more longer term benefits to this as the situation progresses.
