Troubleshooting Online 90 Day Reporting to Thai Immigration
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing online 90-day reporting and troubleshooting some of the problems people have with online 90-day reporting. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: 10 reasons why your online 90 days reporting fails. Under “Subsection 6: You were one day early or one day late.” You know I really appreciated that entry in Pattaya Mail and the sort of things that were cited as potential problems, if you will troubleshooting, people that are trying to use the online system and this brought up a really good point. I have heard this only anecdotally but it is my understanding that yeah the 90-day Reporting system only works if you do it on the exact day you are supposed to do it, which again is one of these, I did another video contemporaneously with this one where we talked about the online 90-day reporting system and I said it is cumbersome and obtuse. This if no other example stands out, this is one of the best examples of why that system is obtuse because again it is like “oh no again you can't just go in there and do it a week away from your 90th day”. Apparently you have to do it on the 90th day and only on the 90th day.
So again that for some people may be okay. Again it also sort of boxes people into a situation where if they can't get it done in that day due to all the cumbersome nature of the system itself, they are just going to end up having to deal with it by paper anyhow. If I was having to deal with this right now from a practical perspective, I would probably lean towards just always doing it on paper or setting up my travel arrangements in such a way that I was out of the country rather than having to go over a 90-day mark. In fact I used to actually do that. I used to specifically go over to Cambodia once a quarter and spend a couple of days over there just right before the 90-day report because I hated doing them; I just didn't like doing them. And if you don't stay more than 90 days at a stretch, you don't have to do it. Basically Immigration wants you to check in with some form of Immigration Officer within 90-day intervals and it can be a Checkpoint Officer, so they were okay with that. So again just another example of the obtuse nature of the 90-day reporting system. It may improve. If it does, we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
