Update on "Golf Quarantine" in Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing golf quarantine in Thailand. We have made another video on this channel regarding golf quarantine some months back. Basically the overall idea or theme behind this is folks coming in to Thailand have got to undertake Alternative State Quarantine. The thinking has been well perhaps they can do it at Golf Resorts and basically undertake games of golf; get some time outside while they are undergoing quarantine rather than just basically being stuck within the four walls of a hotel room for a prolonged period of time.

In an update to that, there have been a couple of articles, the first one is from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com article is titled: Minister Proposes Golf Quarantine to Boost Tourism, this is January 11th, 2021. Quoting directly: “The Tourism Minister said on Monday he had proposed to plan to allow foreigners to quarantine in some of the country's many golf resorts to boost the ailing tourism sector during the Coronavirus pandemic.” Quoting further: "we are discussing with the Public Health Ministry and the country's Coronavirus task force to offer Hotel and golf quarantine for tourists with medical certificates, Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn told the reporters.

Another article, and this is from thaienquirer.com,  that is Thai Enquirer, this article is titled: Bangkok Golf Course Closed after Caddie Tests COVID Positive. Now this was on January 15th, 2021 so after the prior article I just quoted from. “Navatanee Golf Course was closed for 3 days after a caddy has been infected with the Coronavirus it said Friday. The golf course in Kannayao, Bangkok confirmed to the Thai Enquirer they will be closing for thorough sanitation from January 14th to January 16th. The caddy informed the company about the infection on January 13th and is being treated in accordance with the Department of Disease Control procedures they said." So clearly everybody is on the ball with respect to that.

Now the question arises "How likely do we think this golf quarantine is going to be in light of these recent developments?" and I would say not unlike watching this "travel bubble" scheme for lack of a better term, program try to get up off the ground, we have seen it talked about and then it has been put on ice, in fact that was exactly what they said at one point but we have seen them try to promulgate this only to have it shot down. Again it remains to be seen if golf quarantine is going to become a reality. I would say at least as of the time of this video I will believe it when I see it when I see it actually occurring. We will keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses.
