Update on Insurance Requirements for Travel to Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing insurance requirements associated with travel inbound to Thailand. A recent article from Thai PBS World, that is thaipbsworld.com, the article is titled: Thailand drops pre-departure RT-PCR tests for overseas arrivals, allows Songkran celebrations. Quoting directly: "The CCSA has decided to do away with the requirements for all travelers to Thailand under the "Test and Go" program to take an PCR test in the 72 hours before they departure by land, air or sea. They still have to take the test upon arrival and self-administer an antigen test on the 5th day of their stay in the country." Quoting further: "Despite proposals for a reduction however, the minimum required level of travel insurance coverage for foreign tourists arriving in Thailand remains US$20,000."

Now bear in mind at the first quarter when they reopened, so a couple of weeks into January it was 50,000 in insurance. A couple of weeks ago we saw this drop back to 20,000 in insurance. Now we have been hearing, and maybe by the time this video comes out things may be in the works of being changed, but we have kind of heard some cacophony in the background if you will from the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries about maybe getting rid of a lot more of these restrictions. Again it remains to be seen but for now at least as a time of this video we are looking at $20,000 in insurance coverage in order to travel inward to the Kingdom of Thailand.
