Why Do Foreigners Keep Their Cocaine in Their Passports in Thailand?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, "why do foreigners keep putting all their cocaine in their passports?" What are we talking about here? Well I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Phuket News, that is thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: NZ man caught with cocaine in Phuket airport; Russian arrested for long overstay. Quoting directly: "A New Zealand national has been arrested at Phuket International Airport after being caught with cocaine hidden in his passport, while a Russian man was taken into custody in a separate case for overstaying his Visa by nearly a year."
We're going to concentrate on the New Zealander here. Quoting further: "Officers apprehended the 24-year-old New Zealand man (named not reported) at the International Arrivals Hall at about 3:10pm yesterday (April 8), Phuket Airport Immigration reported. Officers discovered approximately 0.18 grammes of cocaine concealed in a clear plastic bag tucked inside his passport. The man was taken to Sakhu Police Station and charged with importing and possessing a Category 2 narcotic."
Yeah, so my big question is in all of this - we did a video on this a while back where there was another guy that he was at the airport, put his passport up for immigration to check it out and there was a little baggy of cocaine in between two of the pages - why is everybody storing their cocaine in their passports? I mean does that seem like a great idea? That's the one thing you are going to present to Immigration, of everything else. They may never see anything in your pockets; they may not see what's in your coat; they may not see anything, but they are going to see the cocaine in your passport, if you bring cocaine in your passport, because the one thing Immigration is going to see is your passport. So yeah, this is always kind of an interesting one where you have got a situation where somebody does something like this. I mean obviously, not to put too fine a point on it, but it is kind of a boneheaded move. So long story short, yeah I guess the only tip to take away from this video is don't put cocaine in your passport. If you're going to put cocaine in your passport, then don't use your passport to travel internationally.
I guess those are the lessons to be taken away from this video and candidly, you are not going to need to go ahead and contact us for that kind of legal advice. We are happy to dispense that right here on YouTube. And for those who are interested in contacting us regarding other legal questions, feel free to. That said, I think I can categorically state on YouTube, never a good idea to travel with cocaine in your passport here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
