Will the Thai Special Tourist Visa Process Take This Long?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Special Tourist Visa yet again.

We are going to go ahead and put this up on screen for those who want to see it. I am going to ask our producer to go ahead and hold that there on screen for just a minute.  Note, this is from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and this is the draft process for the Special Tourist Visa. There is a lot going on here. There are 22 clear steps and within that there are these sub steps. There is a lot going on in this draft process.  Do I think this is going to be exactly what it looks like? Perhaps not. The thing that is notable, this is from Tourism Authority of Thailand so this is not Thai Immigration. This is the Tourism Authority and they are certainly trying to get tourists in as quick as we can and as safely as possible but this process has yet to be brought online. We have yet to see the regulatory framework associated with this process.

So, those who are looking at the Special Tourist Visa right now, yeah I think that this is going to be a rather drawn-out process compared to dealing with just obtaining a Tourist Visa in the past which sometimes just a matter to walk into an Embassy and getting a visa sticker put in a passport within a matter of an hour. That is definitely not what this process is looking like but is it going to look exactly like this, well that remains to be seen. Also bear in mind again it is the Tourism Authority of Thailand that promulgated this document so it is not Thai Immigration specifically saying this.

We will keep you updated on this channel regarding Special Tourist Visas as the situation evolves.
