As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the prospect of vaccination in Thailand in the context of Visa extension. I have made another video on this topic on a prior occasion. We talked about this quite a bit.

However, in recent weeks, I have gotten a lot of correspondence. Multiple people have sent me messages where they have asked "do I think this will eventually be a requirement?" As I said in the prior video, I don't know and do I think it is likely? It is possible. They certainly have the authority, especially under the Immigration Act, to make that a requirement. Do I think it is likely to happen? It may, it may not. The factual situation on the ground here in Thailand right now is simply that there is not an overabundance of vaccines here in Thailand at the moment. So do I think in the immediately foreseeable future we are going to see that being a requirement? Not really.

Now do I think that down the road it may become a requirement? I don't know. It could be. Or could a COVID test become a requirement? Maybe it becomes part of the Work Permit, the Medical Certificate process for a Work Permit authorization here in Thailand; that could happen. They could amend the regulations and make that a requirement or maybe even make a vaccine a requirement. It is difficult to say. I don't think it is really good to engage in speculation at this point so I am not going to as to what I think will happen. Suffice it to say it is possible it could occur. They do have the regulatory authority, by “they” I mean the Immigration Authorities under the Immigration Act. There are multiple places under the Act where I think that they would have the authority to require that. Will they, remains to be seen.
