"A Window of Time" for 90 Day Thai Visa Reporting?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing 90-day reporting. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Pattaya Jomtien Immigration swamped after holidays. We are quoting a small excerpt from this, the thrust of this article goes in a different way. I would urge those who are watching this video, to go check out that article in detail, a lot of good information in there. Quoting directly: "Immigration Officers were advising foreigners without urgent business to delay their visits until midweek. For example, 90 days address reporting is a window of time - not more than two weeks before the due date and one week later - and not a set date." Yeah that's what well put by the Pattaya Mail. Again I urge folks who are watching this, go check out that article in detail because I think this is a big misconception. People think 'oh no, I have to be there on this exact date, 90 days from my last date.' No, there is a window as they note. There is sort of this kind of 3 week window in which one can go ahead and deal with their 90-day reporting so it is not just one finite day and if you miss that day, you are going to have some problems; you are going to get fined whatever. Now if you wait till the very end of the window and it is like the last day within the window then yes, the next day after that you may end up with a fine. But just kind of have an amorphous idea of when you are planning to do your 90-day report if you do it yourself. We assist clients here in our office, any of our clients that we deal with here we assist with their 90-day reporting but folks that are doing it DIY, whatever do-it-yourself, whatever, it is not one specific date, it is kind of a window of time wherein you need to go ahead and file that 90-day report.

So for those who are unaware, if you come to Thailand and maintain a Non-Immigrant Visa, we see this a lot in the context of Business Visas, O Marriage Visas, O and O-A Retirement Visas, if you remain in Thailand in Non-Immigrant status for longer than 89 days, so 90 days or more, you have to do an address reporting per the provisions of the Thai Immigration Act of 1979. It can be done online although there are varying accounts of how useful the online system is. As we said, we assist folks with their 90-day reporting, we have a service basically for that and then some folks choose to do it on their own. They just have to show up to Immigration, fill out the form, file it, Immigration keeps it on file, they give you a little receipt that notes it and you move on. But yeah, 90 day reporting, it is out there, something you have got to deal with but it is not something that you are sort of shackled to one specific date.
