As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the K-1 Fiancé Visa specifically in the context of adjustment of status. For those who are unaware, those who obtain a K-1 Fiancé Visa are able to go to the United States for 90 days for the specific purpose of getting married to their American fiancé(e) and then presumably filing for what is called Adjustment of Status to regularize their status and be granted so called Green Card status or what we refer to as Lawful Permanent Resident. As noted in the title of this video, it looks like the cost of undertaking that process is going to increase and it looks like by our calculation it is going to go up by 26%. This fee increase is said to be implemented April 1 of 2024 so understand while and we have done another video contemporaneously with this one, the K-1 visa fee itself is increasing as well as is the cost of adjustment of status.

It should be noted, the cost of employment authorization documentation and Advance Parole are not included in this increase which only pertains to Adjustment of Status. If you are looking to get Advance Parole travel documentation, or you are looking to get employment authorization documentation prior to well if you are looking to get either of those I should say, prior to April 1 the fees are still the same. Following April 1, 2024, those fees are going up as well and those fees are independent of simply the Adjustment of Status processing fee which is going up by orders of magnitude in its own right.

So understand across the board, all of the costs associated with sort of the backend of bringing a K-1 fiancé(e) into the United States will be rising. Now some folks never opt to use an Advance Parole travel documents or get an employment authorization document so those costs may not impact them but understand, Adjustment of Status itself, or the costs associated with that process is rising as well and that will take effect April 1 of 2024.
