As the title of this video suggests, we are looking at a suspension of Consular services at the US Consulate in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This just came to my attention, they actually emailed me this. The subject is: Message for US Citizens. Temporary suspension of Consular Services at Consulate General Chiang Mai. Quoting directly: "Effective immediately, the US Consulate General in Chiang Mai is temporarily suspending all Consular services until further notice due to staffing shortages. Although we hope to resume Consular services soon, Consular services in Thailand are currently only available at the US Embassy in Bangkok. If you are a US citizen in Northern Thailand in need of emergency assistance please call the Bangkok American citizen Services unit: 02-205-4000. If you have an appointment for or seeking routine services please email acsbkk@state.gov. For Visa assistance and information please email visabkk@state.gov. 

So yeah that is a pretty big one, staff shortages. I suspect things associated with all the construction and stuff going on up there may have something to do with that as well although I can't say that for sure. But yeah it is definitely a big announcement. Hopefully, they will get things kind of rectified up there sooner rather than later because I know there are a lot of folks that live up in Chiang Mai that find dealing with the Consulate far more convenient than having to come down here to Bangkok, but at least for now that appears to be the case. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
