Appointment Issues for CR-1 and IR-1 Visa Interviews in Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the CR-1 and IR-1 Visa interview appointments at the US Embassy here in Thailand. It is to be a Thailand centric video regarding US Immigration.

Unfortunately, the K Visa categories are having a trickier time getting interviews but the nice thing, this is about the only nice thing about using the National Visa Center is once a case becomes documentarily qualified, NVC goes ahead and liaises with the Embassy to lock in that interview date. Fortunately, in these cases, in these CR-1, IR-1 cases this is a godsend because where you don't have a locked in appointment and you have to get an appointment, there are a finite number of slots and on top of it I think that the Embassy over here is implementing COVID mitigation protocols which are resulting in things moving a lot slower.

With the CR-1 or IR-1 Visa, the interview itself, the date gets locked in with the Embassy taking the case from NVC and going ahead and beginning the process. This is one of the few times I would say it is nicer to be dealing with the NVC because the NVC can be problematic to deal with, but it is a bit nicer to be dealing with the NVC because you have this locked in interview, at least as of this time.

Now depending on your circumstances, you know you might not want to necessarily jump from a K-1 into a Marriage Visa just because of this overall issue because I do think in coming months this will probably be hashed out but at least for now it is a benefit to be going through the CR-1 or IR-1 categories.
