As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing K-1 Fiancée visas. We are discussing them specifically in the context of the National Visa Center. 

For those who are unaware, the National Visa Center can be quite a difficult institution to deal with when you are dealing with certain types of Visa cases. Fortunately the K-1, one of I guess you could call it, sort of upsides of the K-1 process you don't really have a great deal of involvement with NVC. They basically act as a Clearing House; move the case over to an Embassy abroad. In most cases we deal with they are operating out of Thailand so the NVC just goes ahead and moves it from the United States here to the Embassy in Bangkok. 

Now the reason for the video though is basically we are discussing, yeah there is upside to the NVC not being involved in the K-1 but remember the K-1 does not confer Green Card status at entry so you have still got to deal with things like adjustment of status upon getting a Thai National, in the case of most of our cases, but getting a foreign fiancée into the United States. So while there may be some upside to the K-1 with respect to a lack of having to deal with some of the worst parts of the bureaucracy within the American Immigration apparatus, the downside is the K-1 is not a Permanent Visa in any true sense of the term.
