Consular Processing US Visa Applications in 2026?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Consular processing of US Visa Applications going into 2026.
We have noticed a number of different points, data points if you will in the process that we have been seeing going through 2025 with Trump taking back over, and we are starting to see things pop up that we hadn't seen since Trump's first Administration and it is having an impact on Consular processing. For those who are unaware, Consular processing is the final phase in many type of cases for example like K-1 Fiancé(e) Visas, or US Marriage Visas such as the CR-1, IR-1 or K-3 Visa.
This is the phase of the process at the very end where you are dealing with an Embassy or Consulate and you're dealing with things like the interview. You're basically dealing with the final phases of the National Visa Center where you're getting documentarily qualified and then you're getting over to the actual Embassy, getting the interview date set, dealing with police clearances, dealing with medical exams. At a certain point we might even have to deal with what is called a 221g Refusal which is a refusal to issue a visa pending further documentation, so get them what they ask for and they continue. I am seeing more 221gs. There are more refusals especially in this late third quarter of 2025 going into the fourth quarter, I have seen a lot more 221gs issued. I think it's safe to presume we'll probably see that trend continue going into 2026, as I expect that this Administration is going to at least heavily scrutinize many of the cases that come before them to a level that frankly we haven't seen since the first Trump Administration. And this comes up even in Consular processing at Embassies and Consulates abroad because State Department Policy trickles down to them abroad. Even though they're outside the United States, they are still working for the US government; they are part of the Embassy.
So the thing to take away from this video is I expect more of this to continue in 2026, and we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as that situation evolves.
