Could a USCIS Bangkok Local Office Return in 2021

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests we are discussing the Bangkok USCIS Office. It was closed some time ago during this Trump Administration that we are currently seeing the twilight of presumably here at the end of 2020.

I have had some questions mostly actually from colleagues asking me "do you think maybe with a Biden Administration that they might reopen the Bangkok USCIS Office?" It remains to be seen. I am not overly optimistic. I think if anything, probably not. Once you have a certain amount of momentum in the American Immigration Bureaucracy it is really difficult to sort of turn back that momentum. That said, it may; they may reopen. I mean I think it is rather odd that one of the largest, I think the largest Embassy in the world and one of the main functions of an Embassy presumably is to deal with certain Visa matters, doesn't have a local USCIS office and it once did. It has virtually every other office of the American Government that one could think it would have at this particular compound so it makes some sense that a USCIS Bangkok office might return at least in my mind but what makes sense in my mind is perhaps not what makes sense in the minds of policy makers on Capitol Hill.

So exactly if or when that will happen remains to be seen. I would not be overly optimistic and until such time as it is a definite certainty and we actually see a USCIS Office reopen its doors here in Bangkok, it is probably prudent to presume it is not going to be reopening again until we actually see those doors swing open.
