CR-1 And IR-1 Visa Petition Fees Set To Rise By 53%?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, it looks like based on our calculations the filing fees associated with the underlying petition for a CR-1 or an IR-1 Visa - and I am going to presume most of the folks who watch this channel and quite honestly most of the cases we process in an American Immigration context come from Thailand - so this is probably going to pertain to Thailand more than anybody but this is kind of a general video because these fees are going up across the board it is not just for Thailand.

But yeah, the CR-1 and IR-1 Visas fees are increasing by our calculations by about 53% beginning in April of 2024. So this is coming rather imminently, admittedly it is coming at the beginning I would presume of quarter 2 of 2024 of the calendar year and those who are looking or not yet married I don't know if you are going to be able to slide in before this deadline on the fee increase just because here in Thailand the process of getting married, I made another video contemporaneously with this one actually talking about that, that process takes a great deal more time than it once did. Where once it was sometimes a matter of days or a week, now it is a matter of weeks minimum and then on top of that if you are not yet married, getting into the system is one issue, you have got to get married before you can file and then once you are into the system you have got to understand that the petition process at the Department of Homeland Security is a different animal from dealing with the National Visa Center as well as the Embassy abroad under the auspices of the Department of State. Again that's a different animal entirely but just the underlying petition fee for a CR-1 or an IR-1 Visa is set to go up by 53% between the time of this video and April, presumably April 1 of 2024.
