CR-1 & IR-1 Visa Process in 2022

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Immigrant Spouse Visas. This is the CR-1 or IR-1 Visa depending on the length of the marriage and just my thoughts on what the process could look like going into 2022.

Unfortunately, at least for the first half of 2022, I don't really see the Immigrant Spouse Visa process being all that different. Now I say unfortunately because we are dealing with a lot of backlogs especially at the National Visa Center and getting an appointment over here at the Embassy and quite frankly it causes a lot of consternation for a clients and I totally understand why. Now what I am hoping is the situation will improve with respect to not just the overall pandemic situation but perhaps the Government response will someone shift over time and we will start actually seeing some of these backlogs starting to be cleared out.

Now it is not particularly anybody's fault these current backlogs but the problem is just due to various Government rules and protocols in association with the current situation we are basically seeing less cases processed because there are less appointments oftentimes due to concerns associated with the pandemic or there are situations where they may not have a full complement of staff to process things at places like USCIS, the National Visa Center or even the US Embassy here in Bangkok.

So again I don't see much really changing with respect to that in the first half of the year which is not great news for those who are looking to process one of these cases through but hopefully things will progress in a positive manner as we move forward through the next year.
