CR-1 & IR-1 Visas: The US Travel Docs System

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the CR-1 and the IR-1 Visa. We are discussing this in the context of what is called the US Travel Docs System.

The US Travel Docs System as we have made some other videos regarding the K categories, the US Travel Docs System is an interactive portal. It is my understanding, it is not part of the US Government. It is an interactive portal not unlike VFS. It is this service provider. Its specific function is interacting with the Embassy for purposes of making the logistical arrangements, the administrative arrangements if you will, to conclude a Visa case, and get the issued Visa and the passport back to the person to whom it belongs. So once your Visa is issued they mail that Visa out and this system basically is designed to make the arrangements to get that to you. So it does some intake, there is some data entry associated with it for example information associated with the filing of the DS260 goes into the Travel Docs System.

Long story short, you have to deal with this to conclude the case and especially if we find especially in the IR-1 and CR-1 categories, folks that are coming off of dealing with NVC which can be a trying experience at the best of times now having to deal with the Travel Docs System. We often find them contacting us quite exasperated in dealing with that because again if you have never dealt with the Travel Docs System, it can be a cumbersome endeavor for those that have never dealt with it before. To be clear, the Embassy and everybody associated with it are responsive when you have issues but it can be frustrating and in some cases folks contact us and try to ask for our help in getting cases processed through. Most of the time, in fact all the time ultimately we have been successfully in getting things done but sometimes trying to navigate your way through the system can be complex and difficult.
