Expect "Longer Processing Times" for K-1 Visas?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing K-1 Fiancé visas yet again.

A recent announcement from USCIS which on one level seems to be good news, the announcement is titled: The USCIS Averts Furlough of Nearly 70% of Workforce.

We are not going to get into that directly, we made a video on that already but there is an interesting point of reference in here that USCIS specifically notes regarding processing times. Quoting directly: "The additional cost savings" and that is the cost savings that resulted in the furlough being averted, "come through the de-scoping of federal contracts that assist USCIS adjudicators in processing and preparing case files as well as myriad other support activities. Anticipated operational impacts include increased wait times for pending case inquiries with the USCIS contact center, longer case processing times and increased adjudication time for aliens adjusting status or naturalization.”

So K-1 Visa holders who enter the United States they enter on a 90-day Visa. They have 90 days in which to marry their American fiancé and file for adjustment of status. So the adjustment process appears it is going to be more prolonged compared to times past and USCIS is just saying that in here. They also specifically State longer case processing times so I think we can anticipate that for all categories K-1's as well, we are going to see longer case processing times just as a general matter at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service Centers in the United States.
