As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the IR-1 Visa. What is this? This is an Immediate Relative and most cases we see the IR-1s issued for spouses of American citizens. We process a number of Spousal and Fiancé Visas for the United States from our office here in Bangkok; we do a large number of them on a quite regular basis here. 

The thing to take away from this video, the thing to understand is first of all the IR-1 Visa is truly an Immediate Relative Visa; it's a true Immigrant Spouse Visa and it is issued to those, well or the status is conferred to those I should say, who have been married for 2 years at the time that they enter the United States in Immigrant Visa status. So if you have been married 2 years at the time you enter the United States, you will be granted unconditional Lawful Permanent Residence. Unconditional Lawful Permanent Residence means that you don't have to deal with things like a lift of conditions as you would have to deal with in the context of a CR-1 Visa, Conditional Resident Visa; those who have been married for less than 2 years at the time their Immigrant spouse arrives in the United States. 

Do I foresee anything really major changing in terms of the processing or the overall attributes of the IR-1 Visa in 2024? Not really. I think moving forward, we are probably going to be looking at largely the same process we were looking at back here in 2023

Now we do have a major political event occurring in terms of the election in 2024. The aftermath of that could result in major changes to Immigration Policy but we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as that situation would evolve at that time.
