K-1 Visa Interview Appointments And The National Visa Center?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the National Visa Center and how it plays in to getting an interview date set at the US Embassy here in Thailand. I am going to make this video specific to K-1 Fiancé Visas for those processing their fiancé through the Embassy here in Bangkok. It may be useful for folks who are processing in other jurisdictions but I am going to talk about a purely from a Thailand angle in this video.

Yeah NVC which, I don't know how that organization could become more of bane to my existence than it already is, but it seems to have figured out a way insofar as there seems to now be a backlog associated with getting cases sent out here to the Embassy so that we can get interviews set and NVC seems to be where the log jam is happening at.

So again NVC is just kind of one of these entities that let's just say it's accountability is very low okay to the point of being discreet on a quantum scale perhaps ‘low’. What I mean to say is this is a State Department entity but it exists in the United States, so it's not outside the United States as abroad, it's inside the United States but it only deals with non-resident aliens primarily who effectively have no rights in the United States yet. Yet. I stress yet. Once you get your Immigrant Visa or a K-1 Fiancé Visa and then convert to Green Card status, you do have some rights as a person that holds that status in the United States but when you are abroad, you're not physically present in the United States and you're a non-American national, I'll be honest with you, sometimes I wonder if the NVC isn't like that old sketch of the phone company from Saturday Night Live back in like the 80s where it was like "we are the phone company, we don't care". I'm not saying NVC doesn't care but I mean again they are dealing with people that they don't particularly have to be accountable to so as a result they just kind of do what they do.

And we are presently looking again at something akin to a backlog of interview dates here at the Embassy. This kind of ebbs and flows; I'm not going to get too hyperbolic about this. I do understand the Embassy; they have a case load; they process it through in their own due time and they do have a function insofar as they have to adjudicate whether or not people should be coming into the United States. That requires in-person interviews and the logistics of maintaining that can be difficult at times and it can lead to backlogs. I get it. But again this is something that sort of ebbs and flows. You'll get a backlog for a while and it will kind of self-clear and then it may build up again. We'll certainly keep you updated on this channel regarding these events here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
