The K-1 Visa Process in 2026?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa process in the year 2026. I really enjoy the end of the year and the turnover to a new calendar year here in Thailand or anywhere else and for the purposes of this channel, because it allows me to go ahead and do sort of a roundup if you will on information generally speaking pertaining to various visas. I've been making videos on this channel for almost 10 years. I have over 8,300 videos already made on this channel, so to say the least I've been talking on these topics at length for a while.
I make a lot of presumptions and assumptions about what people think regarding things like the K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa because I presume that people have watched my channel enough that they are sort of up to speed I need to not do that but the end of the year gives me an opportunity to sort of go back and sort of review basics or fundamentals associated with these given topics, and I'm going to take that opportunity now.
Going into 2026, one major thing I think we will probably see in terms of change for the actual process of processing visas that will be different at least from the beginning of 2025, and that is we've got the Trump Administration which has a very different attitude toward immigration than did the Biden Administration, just sort of generally speaking. Now to their credit, I have not seen them throw up nearly the obstacles - especially in the K-1 Visa process - that I saw in the first term, so I think we have maybe less turmoil to look forward to than what we once dealt with in the K-1 space during the first Trump term. That being said, it remains to be seen, and we will be keeping you updated.
Regarding the general factors of the K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa, the things to keep in mind. Who is eligible? If you are an American citizen with a foreign fiancé, most of the cases that we deal with here in the office involve Thai fiancé(e)s. If you are in that position, you may be able to bring that person to the United States provided you meet the criteria. There is a meeting requirement associated with it, there's financial criteria associated with the Visa but long story short, you have to process the case through the Department of Homeland Security, then the National Visa Center and finally through the Embassy here in Bangkok - if you are processing for a Thai National - through the Embassy here in Bangkok in order to do the visa interview and subsequently see the visa issued.
Now again, specific things change over time with respect to the Immigration Process. That being said, this year overall I haven't seen any real major red flags that lead me to believe things are going to get substantially worse with regard to the K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa, but that being said, it's early days in this Administration and things remain to be seen.
One thing that I did notice is certain bans associated with certain countries that neighbour Thailand, for example Myanmar and Laos, there may be certain Visa bans that pertain to different types of categories depending on the circumstances. K-1 Visas for the most part are unlikely, especially in the case of Laos, are unlikely to be affected by this. That being said, there could be changes in 2026 and we will be keeping people updated on that. Long story short, overall the process is basically the same as it ever has been. That being said, we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
