K-1 Visas from Thailand: Cost Likely to Rise

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the K-1 Visa, specifically the K-1 Visa being processed out of Thailand. This is something I have been doing for 15 years, I have been assisting folks, specifically American citizens in getting their fiancées to the United States. Quite honestly, in the 15 years I have been doing this, we have raised rates, costs have gone up a little bit in association with the processing of these kinds of cases. Going into 2023, I think it is pretty safe to presume we are probably going to be looking at some substantial increases. I don't know exactly how this is going to look so let me be clear; I don't know exactly how this is going to look. I'm going to take the time over the next few weeks to try to come up with some sort of pricing and cost structure that is reflective of the time and effort that goes into these cases.

Look, the long and short of it is these cases have gotten a lot harder; they have gotten harder to assist with just generally. The system is not in good repair quite honestly. USCIS under the Department of Homeland Security in my opinion could do things way better and did in the past. I don't know why we have entered this situation where it seems as if it is institutionally deteriorating over time. Then meanwhile, you have got stuff dealing with backlogs. Okay I understand the backlogs but at some point you have got to stop just blaming backlog and saying "backlog". I mean and I am saying this is, I know clients of mine were to contact me and say "well, what's the deal with backlog?" Well, there is just a backlog. I can't say much more about it. But when it comes to Immigration apparatus, it is their job to clear these things. It is getting hard with a straight face to say "well you know, they tell me there's backlog!" Well there has been a backlog for years now, let's get our arms around it and deal with it would kind of be my thinking on the whole thing.

Long story short, the reason for the video is mostly for folks that are looking at this or for folks that are ongoing clients or maybe thinking of becoming a client whatever, but the costs associated with the K-1 are going to go up just because it is no longer possible to really process them in the same manner that they have been processed in the past.
