Is the K-3, CR-1, IR-1 Visa Process Different Under Biden?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the K-3, CR-1, IR-1 Visa; these are all Marriage Visas. We do a number of these depending on the circumstances, maybe a K-3 maybe CR-1 or an IR-1.

A lot of folks have asked me here recently, they have said: "Is the process better under Biden?" and I would say yeah in the sense that it is moving. Cases are actually moving along whereas a year ago at this time it was in a full stop mode and we didn't see a lot of cases move on until really Biden came into office. I won't say it was like somebody exactly flipped a switch but in certain ways, especially cases coming off National Visa Center, yeah it was like somebody flipped a switch and a lot of cases started coming through for interview with the Embassy here. So, in that sense it is better.

You can't blame Trump for everything. The response to COVID had a lot to do with a lot of these delays. Certainly from a policy angle I think the last Administration tried to take, for lack of a better term, try to take advantage of COVID in order to maybe I should say game the system to the disadvantage of the applicant; sort of slow things down. Yeah, in that sense I think yeah there has been an improvement in 2021 under Biden compared to Trump. Now it doesn't all stop on a dime. There is a pervasive paradigm that got into the system that I think is going to take a little while to shake that. The one thing that is missing is it felt like there was a shadow over Immigration at least for a couple of years where there were those who were intently trying to make things more difficult or more obtuse if you will; caused delays etc., etc. through various little tweaks in the way things are processed. Another real problem that we are still dealing with is very much we are seeing delays on getting receipt notices out on file cases. I mean that is pretty much just unheard of. I never had these issues in all the 14 years I have been doing this where we had issues with receipt notices. This used to be a two-week thing and I am talking about here in Thailand. Now mail is a little bit slower. There is some COVID response stuff going on with respect to that. Again can't blame everything on the prior Administration but overall things seem to be improving.

Hopefully they will improve further but in a sense we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We may not be out of the end of the tunnel with respect to things getting back to processing normally. There is a major variable with respect to local COVID response because this is having an impact on interview scheduling etc. So again, it depends on circumstances but where we are at right now is things are improving and we will certainly update folks on this channel if and when they improve more.
