Making Travel Arrangements Before a K-3, CR-1, or IR-1 Visa Is Issued?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing travel arrangements and K-3 CR-1 or IR-1 Visa, so we are discussing US Marriage Visas here. The reason for the video is people have an overly, they make a lot of assumptions at the end of the Visa process. They are coming up on interview and sometimes they make travel arrangements before the Visa is issued. I cannot stress enough, this is not a good idea, it is not prudent. Until the Visa is issued, you don't have any rights, you don't have any benefits that are codified to be able to travel to the USA. So until it is issued, it is not issued. As they say, I think it was Yogi Bear, "It ain't over, till it is over". And that is what you are dealing with, with respect to issuance of a visa. It is a plenary act, it is not complete until it is actually issued.

So in my opinion, it is imprudent to make travel arrangements, I won't say of any kind, I would say it is imprudent to make irrevocable travel arrangements that you are not prepared to lose some money on, for example if you have to change that travel arrangement. It is not a good idea to make those kinds of arrangements without the Visa in hand. You really need to have the Visa in hand. So the thing to take away from this video, don't make finalized travel arrangements until the K-3, CR-1 or IR-1 Visa is in hand.
