As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing CR-1 and IR-1 Visa petitions specifically forms associated with petitioning for an Immigrant Spouse Visa. We are going to discuss this in the context of spouses of American citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents. That is primarily who we deal with over here in Bangkok; we deal with a lot of spouses of Americans and LPRs. 

There was a recent form change associated with Immigrant Spouse Visa processing, kind of an annoyance in my opinion. I really never liked these form changes. I went through years, almost a decade I think where they didn't change anything about the forms associated with Immigration to the US. I question whether or not these form changes were really all that necessary but one of the most annoying things about them is sometimes they will come online so quickly that it is just hard to deal with them. I know a lot of do-it-yourselfers really run into problems with this because they are not aware of the addition dates of the various forms and all this so when these things roll out, it causes a great deal of consternation amongst folks who are doing this on their own and I got a lot of feedback from folks asking me about that the past couple of weeks. 

So yeah, there have been some new forms associated with Immigrant Spouse Visas. It can have the effect of "gumming up the works" and the thing to take away from this video is you need to be cognizant of that when dealing with the filing of Immigrant Visa petitions for a spouse of an American citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
