No, You Can't Come To The US Visa Interview...?
Transcript of the above video:
Now to preface this video, different Embassies are going to do things differently. So different Embassies may have a different policy regarding non-applicants attending the interview, the visa interview.
That said, most Embassies, they want to run "a tight ship” in their mind and a tight ship does not really include having a bunch of what they probably view as superfluous people attending a Visa interview. This is especially the case with regard to for example, Tourist Visas, they are not want to going to see anybody and this is from my own personal observed experience and experience dealing with specifically the US Embassy here in Bangkok, Thailand, but this could be other places. Again different places do think differently; I can only really speak to my little piece of this thing, my little piece of the puzzle and that is Thailand specifically. Yeah, they are not going to want to see non-applicants at the interview and this goes for Fiancé Visas and Marriage Visas as well. People sometimes presume, I notice Americans will sometimes say, "Well I'm going to be there!" Yeah, they are going to bar you. I have seen them turn people away, they are not allowed to come in to the interview just because they have a fiancé that is interviewing. In all honesty, it's not the greatest thing in the world that you want to be in an interview because you may be subjected to what is called a Stokes Interview which honestly is not part of standard protocol and in my opinion really shouldn't be, and if you just add that element to it you are already causing yourself a problem quite honestly.
So, the thing to understand about Visa interviews is that they generally speaking and I can say this with a great deal of certainty dealing with the US Embassy here in Bangkok, they can only be attended to or attended by the actual applicant for the Visa, not anyone else.
