Is Obsession with Legal Immigrants Good for America?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are asking is obsession with legal immigrants really a good thing for America? Now let me be clear, I made videos going back, I don't know, at this point I think it's probably 18 months ago, maybe longer, maybe two years ago about for example Poncho Villa and George S. Patton who at the time was a Lieutenant the US Army, would go on to become a General - one of the more famous Generals frankly in the US military history - had a gun fight with Pancho Villa and I talked about the fact that I was really concerned about the Border because it was wide open and there were just people basically just invading the United States. That's an issue. Illegal immigration is an issue and it's well within US Customs and Border Protection’s remit as well as within the remit of other not least of all being the army itself to defend the nation. Also I've talked about retained state war powers that exist notwithstanding the Warfare Declaration Clauses in the US Constitution when there's a clear invasion on your hands.
So let me be clear, illegal Immigration and by that I mean illegal aliens which is the correct term, invading the country, that is one thing, legal immigrants are another. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from Breitbart, breitbart.com, and this was actually sent by a viewer and thank you very much for that; tip of the hat there. Quoting directly: Trump ending automatic green cards from migrants marrying U.S. citizens. One, Trump can't just automatically do anything. I've really hated this about the Executive really since going back even into Obama, and the dreamers and some of this stuff where it's just "we're going to take unilateral action" and more importantly, and this was really prevalent and very negative under the Biden Administration, is utilizing things like the Preemption Doctrine to then do nothing, to say "oh we have authority with regard to immigration; we're the Federal Government and with that authority we're just going to abrogate or abdicate our responsibilities and just allow people to come roaming into the country." Now it's turning out there were programs that actually intentionally flew illegals into the United States which there needs to be accountability for this. The legal posture of that is just wrong. That said, quoting directly: "Immigration lawyers are warning that federal agencies are increasingly skeptical when migrants claim to have legitimate marriages with Americans. The policy shift comes after President Donald Trump's deputies began cracking down on rising rates of marriage related visa fraud by immigrants who pay Americans for temporary marriages. In November, the Trump Administration even suggested that migrants who already hold Green Cards could find their status re-examined and reassessed."
Look, I do get this and to be clear let's look at this. This is probably not going to have a major impact on anybody who's looking to bring a loved one from Thailand to the US. Maybe I should say there shouldn't be direct implication here. Indirect, yeah, I expect we're going to see more obtuseness to say the least out of this Administration as time goes on dealing with things revolving around immigration. And my question posed by this video and this is coming from someone who truly detests illegal immigration, why are we messing with and obsessing over people who are legal? Now again, again if we're talking about folks that came in illegally during this time where it was just completely neglected and they then are now trying to pay somebody off to do a fake marriage, that's a different thing. But I kind of doubt that's a particularly high percentage of most folks who are seeking marriage visa benefits inside or outside the United States. I think that yeah, some resource expense on going after sham marriages, not a terrible idea. It would be nice to see some resource expenses go after the fake lawyers and so-called notarios who assist a lot of these people. You really want to go after them, go after the lawyers if you will. There's a great line in the movie The Firm where he said, "If you want to go after the mob go after their lawyers" kind of thing. And I never agreed with that insofar as that particular movie because it really sort of inverted the whole notion of the legal profession and everything, but in the sense of fake lawyers and notarios who are facilitating people to break the law and completely undermining the spirit of the law, yeah, they should be gone after. If anything, they're the ones facilitating illegal immigration to the United States and making it worse; exacerbating the problem. So again, I think it wouldn't be a terrible idea to look at that as well.
That said, my general question posed by this video is, is it really in the best interest of the United States to be focusing on legal immigration and one thing I think that is going on here is, it's like low-hanging fruit. It's easy to go after the people that are coming to you to get their benefits in order, rather than having to go out and chase down people that are illegal. Now my opinion would be well, let's post some people at the actual border to keep those folks from ever getting into the country to begin with; that would be a good place to start. It looks like Trump overall has done that. Tom Holman seems like a very assiduous law enforcement official.
That being said, again I really question whether or not it wouldn't be better if we just purely focus on illegal immigration to begin with and worry about some of this legal stuff, or “problems” that may come up with that later. That said, I do get that there may be concerns with regard to fraud especially those who came in illegally to begin with and now are trying to sort of reconcile or rectify their legal status through some sort of sham marriage, yeah that's a concern, but how many of those really are there.
