Post COVID Interview Preparation for K-3 Visas from Thailand

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing K-3 Marriage Visas. To be clear, this is different than the K-1 Fiancé Visa as well as from the Immigrant Spouse Visas sometimes referred to as the CR-1 or the IR-1. This is a different type of travel document we are talking about in this video.

So, what are we talking about here with respect to the K-3? For those who are unaware, the K-3 was created in the mid to late 90s. It was created under the Life Act. It was basically created at a time when there was a huge backlog with Immigrant Spouse Visas but there wasn't one with K-1 Fiancé Visas so they essentially created another K category to kind of allow American citizens to get over and process, similar to a K-1. Since then as we have discussed many, many times, K-3 have kind of fallen by the wayside. We do occasionally see them processed but not overly frequently due to what is called administrative closure or the policy of administrative closure by the National Visa Center.

Setting that aside, as we are seeing COVID-19 sort of come to an end, I don't know how you want to put it but we are coming to the end of this tunnel, it has been a pretty unpleasant tunnel I grant. We are kind of seeing the Immigration System start to move at a pace commensurate with what we would expect it to move with sort of status quo ante March 2020 and hopefully we will start seeing K-3s move through kind of at the pace we are used to seeing things move through. So we will definitely keep you updated on this channel but the good news is yes it is looking like we are seeing more interviews generally which would mean we are probably going to start seeing K-3s coming through with more frequency. Hopefully we are going to get some momentum behind this and we will see things get back to some semblance of what we are used to dealing with here in the relatively near future.
