Social Media Accounts and K-1 Visa Applications from Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing social media accounts, documentation associated therewith and the K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa process. For those who are unaware, K-1 category pertains to visas for fiancé(e)s of American citizens to be able to travel to the United States for 90 days for the purpose of getting married and then applying for Green Card status therein and processing that way.

Something we have seen a lot of, I've done videos in the past three or four months regarding Trump's so-called visa ban or visa pause where Immigrant Visas strictly speaking are apparently “paused” right now while they are retooling the infrastructure associated with adjudicating matters pertaining to whether or not someone will become a public charge in the United States i.e. go on welfare. Now K-1 Fiancé(e) Visas don't seem to be overly impacted by this. As I have discussed in other videos, we have processed through cases this April at the point at which we saw new visa interviews being granted and we have actually seen a K-1 Visa issued, an actual issued visa which I've also seen ones go into Administrative Processing; I've also seen applications regarding third country nationals go into sort of a 221(g) limbo so we're still working through certain aspects of other cases, but yes it is possible to continue processing a K-1 Visa to its issuance, so that's something to understand amidst this pause.

But one thing we have noticed here recently is the Embassy is getting a lot more assiduous in looking at documentation pertaining to folks' social media presence. I talked about this going back in the first Trump Administration when we saw the so-called "Muslim ban" which basically started requiring a lot of extra scrutiny associated with Visas worldwide, because even though there was a ban that pertained to one particular region or set of countries, there were directives that were handed down at the same time that said, hey there needs to be heightened scrutiny associated with multiple different factors associated with immigration processing and one of the upshots of that was they started wanting everyone to basically, the biggest thing we have seen is if someone's Social Media presence - for example their Facebook page - isn't set to public, the Embassy will say, they will say literally, we have had them do this with clients recently, they will contact us and say, "you need to switch that to public so we can see it" even before the interview. And again social media is being scrutinized by adjudicating officers who are adjudicating Visa matters. So that needs to be borne in mind for anybody who is looking to process a Fiancé(e) Visa from the Kingdom of Thailand.
