As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing specific types of Thai Bank Accounts that are utilized for receiving Social Security from the US. 

It is possible to set up a Thai Bank Account, and it's going to depend on the bank that you use, but it may be possible to go ahead and set up a special type of Thai Bank Account specifically for receiving US Social Security benefits. But there are certain sort of restrictions associated with these types of bank accounts most notably there is no online component and there is no ATM component associated with these things; they have to be dealt with in person. Why is that? It's an anti-fraud component, it is an anti-fraud measure associated with receiving these types of benefits as this is sort of if you will a state pension kind of thing and they want to be sure that the folks that are actually receiving it are the people to whom it is entitled, the people who are entitled to receive it. So they want to make sure people that do receive these benefits and receive these disbursements when they show up to make withdrawals for example at these banks abroad that have these special facilities associated with being able to receive US Social Security, you have got to show up, you have got to present ID, show that you are who you say you are so that you can get your money out of there. But it is possible to set up a specific special type of Bank Account here in Thailand for the sole purpose of receiving US Social Security benefits, notwithstanding the fact that a person may be abroad.
