As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the American Embassy in Thailand and rejection of Student Visa applications. I thought of making this video because frankly I have seen a lot of inquiries lately, a lot of correspondence pertaining to denial of Student Visas. 

One, we did videos here recently where the Trump Administration is really heavily scrutinizing Student Visa applications. They are even scrutinizing people who are already in the United States on Student Visas. As I discussed in videos years ago, they also went after so-called duration of status back some 5, 6, 7 years ago under the first Trump Administration which was a big deal because a lot of folks that went into the United States as students, would often be stamped in in what was called duration of status which led to a situation where they could not necessarily be considered being put in overstay. So Trump's Administration in that Administration change that. Now we are looking at it more from the side of even getting visas as a student and that's tightening up now, quite a bit as well. 

It is also worth pointing out that folks that are seeking a Student Visa to the US are going to be subject to what is called Section 214b of the Immigration and Nationality Act which basically creates the impetus on the Consular Officer to find that the applicant has sufficient strong ties to their home country and sufficient weak ties to the United States to allow for that application to be approved. And under those circumstances, it can lead to a lot of summary denial; there are a lot of summary denials associated with Student Visas because of section 214b. 

Those who have been denied and are looking at their further options with regard to possible Immigration to the United States, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
