Tax Documentation In The K-1 Visa Process
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing K-1 Visa processing, specifically the issue of tax documentation. Now what are we talking about here?
Tax has been a major issue on the lips of many expats here in Thailand but that is Thai Tax we are talking about. In this video, we are talking about American Tax documentation because American Tax documentation is integral to proving up one's ability to financially support one's fiancé in the United States and during the K-1 Visa process, one generally speaking will be required to submit documentation pertaining to their tax filing status.
Now when you get over to the United States and you start dealing with adjustment of status, this issue is even more acute because during that process, you definitely will need to deal with what is called an I-864 and one of the components of the I-864 again is copies of tax returns, tax transcripts. So again, this is an integral component to the overall K-1 process; it is something you are going to have to deal with when doing Consular Processing through the US Embassy here in Bangkok; it is something we deal with on a regular basis dealing with obtainment and compilation of tax documentation and presentation at the interview in order to prove up one's ability to financially support a foreign fiancée. If deemed adequate, that will in turn be a component in the approval of a K-1 Visa here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
