Travel Arrangements Before a K-1 Visa Is Issued?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing K-1 Fiancé Visas. Unfortunately this still comes up, so it is why I am making this video. Recently we had a case where we were dealing with the final processing and fortunately all went well but I came to find out that travel arrangements had been made prior to the Visa actually being issued and I can't stress this enough, this is not a good idea.

The K-1 process unfortunately can be somewhat erratic. There can also be circumstances far outside of folks' control as COVID has shown us where you can get stuck in a situation completely unprecedented and a Visa may not be issued for a prolonged period of time. The point I am trying to make with this is do not make any finalized irrevocable travel arrangements until a Visa is hand and this is no different for the K-1 Visa. Even if they say it is approved at interview, my opinion is don't make travel arrangements until you have the Visa. They mail it back depending on the Embassy you are dealing with; some places you may have to go pick it up but until you have it in hand, don't make any finalized arrangements because you can get burned that way and end up paying out of pocket substantial amounts of money. There are just a number of ways in which you can be burned.

So again if you take nothing else away from this video, do not make irrevocable travel arrangements for your fiancée or yourself for that matter depending on circumstances, until final issuance of the Visa and you have the K-1 Visa in hand.
