US Immigrant Visas Not Revoked by Trump?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing, well we are discussing US Immigrant Visas not being revoked by Trump. What are we talking about here? Well there has been recent talk about a travel pause on Immigrant Visas, so let me go ahead and dive in here from nafsa.org.
Quoting directly: "DOS pauses Immigrant Visa Issuance for Nationals of 75 Countries. In a January 14, 2026 news posting, the US Department of State announced that it will pause the issuance of Immigrant Visas at US Consulates worldwide starting January 21, 2026."
So, I've discussed this in other videos at length made contemporaneously with this one. If you want to get into the analysis of the pause itself, go into those other videos. That said, what is pertinent here is the issue of, what happens if I've already got my Visa issued and this thing, this “ban”, this pause comes into effect?
Quoting directly: "Does this affect my current valid Visa? No Immigrant Visas have been revoked as part of this guidance."
That's the important thing to understand. I have got a couple of clients that immediately emailed me because we recently got their visas for their significant others issued, and they said, "hey, what's going on here? Is this going to affect me?" No. If you have already seen your Visa issued, go ahead and use it. It was issued; it was validly issued. What's happening here is there is a pause being placed on issuance of visas, not on processing, on issuance. I get into that in another video made contemporaneously with this one. The thing to take away from this video though is if you have seen your Immigrant Visa already issued within a couple of weeks of this announcement being made and your significant other has yet to actually use it, they can continue to use it. This announcement does not revoke Immigrant Visas. It merely changes the way in which they are going to be processed henceforth, or I should say starting from January 21.
So again, as I get into in other videos, processing parameters may not change, but issuance of visas will. An already issued Visa can continue to be used notwithstanding Trump's recent announcement and notwithstanding any other recent news that we have seen regarding this. That being said, we will certainly be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
