As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing US Visas. The title may be a little bit confusing, so what are we talking about here?

Well first of all we have seen quite an uptick of correspondence from folks who have a loved one or loved ones in Myanmar.  Myanmar is, I'm not going to get into political topics here or discussion on what is going on in a news context, folks can go and Google that - "What is going on in Myanmar?" to see that. The situation in Myanmar is fluid to say the least and it may not be particularly easy by any stretch of the imagination for someone to travel for example to adjudicate a visa from Myanmar. In some cases folks will come over here to Thailand to wait it out and process through the US Embassy here. 

Now a couple of key points to be aware of. Consular jurisdiction for third country Nationals, that is non-citizens of the host country of that Embassy, that is something that is basically adjudicated on a case-by-case basis. What I mean to say is the Embassy may not just take every case involving someone from Myanmar. They want to see that there is a valid reason why that person is in Thailand for the US Embassy here to take that case. That being said, more to the point in this video, travel considerations getting from Myanmar to Thailand can be substantially difficult under present circumstances. My heart really does go out to folks who are stuck in situations that are, let's call it complicated to say the least. One of the big issues we have heard from folks is getting passport issuance can be something of an obstacle to overcome. 

So long story short and the thing to take away from this video is yeah we do understand there are folks that are looking to get assistance bringing a national from Myanmar over to the United States; yes it may be possible, may be possible, depending on circumstances for them to come to Thailand and process through the Embassy here but it is all going to depend on the underlying circumstances of the case.
