The 7+7 Travel Initiative in Thailand's "Phuket Sandbox"

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing what is being called the 7 + 7 scheme for travelers to the “Phuket Sandbox”.

In a recent article from the Bangkok Post print edition, that is from July 28, 2021, the article is titled: Sandbox Visitors can Leave Phuket. Quoting directly: “Foreign visitors in the Phuket Sandbox program will be able to travel onwards to other attractions and key tourism provinces in the South starting from August 1 said the National Economic and Social Development Council." Quoting further: "The extended travel open under the 7+7 scheme where overseas tourists in the "Sandbox" program are required to spend at least seven days in Phuket before they visit any of the three onward provinces where they must stay a minimum of 7 days." Quoting further: "The specific attractions are Koh Samui, Koh Phangngan and Koh Tao in Surat Thani; Koh Phi Phi, Koh Ngai and Koh Rai Lay in Krabi and Koh Lak, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai in Phangnga."

So apparently yeah this is expanding outward. We talked about this going on like a year ago when this was first being bandied about that maybe these zones would open up and then they slowly expand outward. Now exactly how this is going to play out and interact remains to be seen, but it does look like they are making affirmative steps to allow for well what can only be described as more broad allowance for travel for those who are still under quarantine. So we will definitely keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses.
