Are Foreigners Coming to Thailand to Engage in "Public Sex Antics"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing as the thumbnail suggests, it's Foreigners Behaving Badly. My big question is look, we all love Thailand, but does that love need to be publicly portrayed for all the world to see. Let's dig in here. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Phuket News that thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: Tourists pay price for public sex antics. Quoting directly: "Phuket Police have warned that sexually explicit behaviour in public will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, citing multiple recent cases" - multiple recent cases! So, I don't get it, everybody's coming, like foreigners are just rushing into Thailand to ‘drop trou’ and go at it in public? I mean what's going on here folks? - Quoting further: "Multiple recent cases in which foreign nationals were arrested, jailed and blacklisted after stunts that authorities say damage the province's image and endangered the public." Quoting further: "The warning comes after a 23-year-old Russian streamer was handed down a jail sentence, deported and banned from re-entering Thailand for 99 years after filming himself having sex in the back of a speeding pickup truck on a public Road in Phuket, in a case late last year that officials condemned as a "gross violation of local laws and moral norms".

Then quoting further, you get down under TUK-TUK SEX. In a separate case highlighting what police describe as an increasing pattern of behaviour, Kathu Police" - an increasing pattern of behaviour! It's like, come on folks, like you can't just keep this stuff behind closed doors? All right. -  "Kathu Police reported tracking down two French tourists who were filmed performing explicit acts on a moving Tuk-tuk while crossing Patong Hill late last month. On January 30, a media outlet exposed footage under the headline "Full show on a Tuk-Tuk", showing foreign tourists engaging in indecent behaviour on a Tuk-Tuk while traffic followed behind them. The clip drew widespread condemnation from netizens, who said the act damaged Phuket's image as a tourist destination. Officers reiterated that public indecency is a criminal offense in Thailand and warned that foreigners who use Phuket as a backdrop for explicit stunts intended for social media face arrest, imprisonment, deportation and long-term bans from returning to the country."

Yeah, and I mean as they probably should. I don't know why people, would you do this in your home country, in France or Russia or anywhere else for that matter? I don't see why it's such a great thing to come to Thailand and engage in this stuff. I have to imagine maybe intoxication played a role but at the end of the day this yeah, it's pretty much a classic "Foreigners Behaving Badly" kind of thing. Now what's the upshot? Well you are going to be arrested. There's probably going to be a level of public humiliation involved and then blacklisting and deportation. So the consequences on this type of thing are pretty substantial. Thailand really doesn't want to be importing people who want to engage in lewd behaviour; that's just not what they really want to do. Also again, where it is sort of deemed to be a threat to the reputation of the country, what country wants to get the reputation of everybody coming over and just, I don't know, rubbing up against each other in public all the time? It's not a great look, okay? So yeah, the police are going to react pretty harshly and frankly I think that there's some reason in doing that.

That being said, again the consequences are stiff and I expect it's going to continue to be like this. So if you are looking for a place to come and engage in sex acts in public, maybe look elsewhere other than the Kingdom of Thailand.
