Are "Vaccine Passports" the Key to a Quarantine Free Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing so-called "Vaccine Passports", or "Vaccination Passports".

In a recent article from Thai Visa, that is thaivisa.com, and Thai Visa is noting the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Quoting directly from the article: Vaccine Passports Could Allow Foreigners to Visit Thailand Without Quarantine. Quoting directly: "Foreigners who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 could be allowed to visit Thailand without the need to quarantine according to new proposals from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, TAT". Quoting further: "The “vaccine passports” are one of the number of ideas mooted by TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn in a bid to revive the country's decimate tourism industry which faces the prospect of 1 million workers left unemployed as a result of the pandemic. Mr Supasorn said under the proposals, vaccinated tourists from the United States and Europe could start arriving in Thailand as early as March or April with a focus on what would be the Easter holidays in Europe." So interesting. Now first thing to note, TAT that is Tourism Authority of Thailand, that is not the Immigration Authorities.  So pertinent regulations would be promulgated by the Thai Immigration office and or Ministry of Foreign Affairs and until we see that I don't think it is safe to presume that any major changes are going to be made.

That stated, it is interesting the TAT is taking this so seriously and it clearly appears that they are trying to promote tourism as much as possible. Obviously being able to get rid of quarantine would be a major step on the road to the recovery of the tourism industry here in Thailand as being able to forego 2 weeks in quarantine would have a substantial impact on the decision making process of prospective tourists looking to come to the Kingdom. We will keep you updated on this topic on this channel as the situation progresses.
