Are We Entering a "Dark Age" for International Travel?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing international travel. I have gotten a lot of correspondence here recently, a lot of things in the comments of these videos. People seem to have, there seems to be a negative feedback loop going on with respect to the prospects of international travel moving forward. I think a lot of people are very concerned and I think those concerns are warranted but I personally do not believe the current regime we are dealing with is going to be this way forever.

Now I could see certain things lingering after this is over but the notion that we are forever going to be trapped, especially like in the Thailand context where this 2-week quarantine is going to last forever, I view that as highly unlikely. Now exactly what this looks like at the end of this or at the other end of the tunnel if you will, that remains to be seen and is my opinion rather difficult to fully predict. I do believe a lot of countries Thailand among them, really would like to see tourism pick back up. There are a huge segments of the economy that have been absolutely decimated; there are huge segments of the economy that are completely moribund, that are just not operating at all. I think these sectors of the economy would very much like to get going again and I think that many of the Governments around the world would like to get their people back to work again. So at least for the immediately foreseeable future, yes I think we are still going to have to put up with some of this but I think looking at a year out again, I am very hesitant to speculate because I was saying some of this same stuff a year ago but yes I do not think we are stuck necessarily with this forever.

Is it forever going to be a sort of Dark Age for international travel? It depends on your perspective. I could definitely see some of these requirements remaining and that may be onerous to certain people or people may view that as an onerous requirement. It also may not. I can definitely see a set of circumstances where this gets pulled off and I am hoping that happens sooner rather than later. That said, it remains to be seen. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses.
