A question that has been posed amongst many in discussing the "Phuket Sandbox" initiative, people have asked me: "I want to come and meet my fiancé" for example or "I want to come and meet my girlfriend or my boyfriend or my significant other, spouse, kids just friends even" and they have said this person is going to be traveling in or in some cases they are asking about this in the first person so they say look "I am going to travel into Phuket. Can my girlfriend in Ubon fly in to Phuket and meet me there?" Well point of fact yes, it does appear that that is going to be possible but flying into Phuket is not going to be like flying throughout the rest of Thailand once you are already in. There are some rules associated with this. 

In a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Phuket Affirms Ready to Reopen July 1. Quoting directly: "Those entering the island from other provinces must have received two doses of the Sinovac vaccine or one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine or had an RT-PCR negative test 168 hours before their arrival or going in to 14 days quarantine, Mr. Narong said during the meeting." This was an official discussing this upcoming reopening. 

So let's just go back through that real quick. "Have received two doses of Sinovac, OR one dose of AstraZeneca vaccine OR had an RT-PCR negative test 168 hours before their arrival OR go in to 14 days quarantine." So a lot of ORs there but yes it is possible for folks who are already in Thailand to meet folks who are traveling in to the "Sandbox". I know there have been some issues, a lot of discussion out there about whether or not they can cohabit, stay in the same Hotel. I think that is still getting ironed out. I believe for now, and again this is all tenuous; I am making this video right at the end here of June so we have yet to see, I am always a big believer, let's see the rules, let's get them in place and then let's see how they are practically applied because that is really where the rubber hits the road with this kind of stuff. 

But yeah there does seem to be some question about whether or not these folks can cohabit in the same hotel room during this 14-day period. We will definitely keep folks updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
