End of Walk-In Vaccines for Expat Retirees in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the end of the walk-in vaccine regime for elderly expats here in Thailand. I haven't actually kept up with this story on this channel because a lot of other news outlets were all over this and I didn't really feel the need to do that but it does appear now that they are going to make some changes, they are changing some of the protocols associated with vaccination and I felt it was probably timely to go ahead and get this video out to possibly inform folks, I know there are number of retirees that watch this video, to possibly inform folks about the current status of this.

So this is from the Thaiger, that is the thaiger.com and the title is: Bang Sue Walk-in Vaccinations for Elderly Expats to End Saturday. Quoting directly: "Walk- in vaccination services for elderly expats at Bang Sue Grand station is ending on Saturday," presumably and in fact from what I have read in this article this coming Saturday, "the Government is preparing to roll out the next phase in its COVID-19 immunization plan starting Sunday August 1. Registration in Bangkok will open up to those 18 and older but there will be no walk-in services." That is a key point; “there will be no walk-in services”. Quoting further: "Until Saturday, foreigner residents who are 75 and older can walk into Bang Sue station from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for same day service to receive their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The free inoculation services are offered to elderly expats from Bangkok as well as neighboring provinces. Registration is also currently open to Expats 60 and older but an appointment must be booked in advance."

So again, starting Sunday August 1, they are not going to do this on a walk-in basis so if you get there by Saturday the 31st you are going to be able to get your vaccination if you are 75 year old person or older even if you are an elderly foreign national, an elderly expat here in Thailand. So again, this is more just a warning shot out there. Folks if you are watching this, if you are looking to avail yourself of a walk-in vaccine, you probably want to get on that by the end of this week. Not too many days left but you have probably still got some time.
