As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the “Phuket Sandbox” and we are discussing the prospect of getting out of the "Phuket Sandbox" by air. This is folks that have come in, they have done their time so to speak in the Phuket sandbox and then they are wanting to leave the "Phuket Sandbox" and go to other provinces in Thailand. We are specifically doing this video on doing that by air.

A recent article from the Phuket News, that is thephuketnews.com, the article is titled: Phuket Officials Issue New Order for "Sandbox" Tourist Arrivals from July 1st. There is a lot of interesting information in here. The Phuket News did a really good job on this. They also translated the recent order, the local Provincial Order regarding the protocols associated with this "Sandbox" initiative, so a lot of information in there. We are talking about one specific thing in this video. I urge those watching this video to go check out the Phuket News on their website and check out this article; there is a lot in here.

In any event, quoting directly, Article 2 of the recently issued order, quoting: "Those who come from abroad and wish to travel out of Phuket to travel to other provinces or traveling out of the Kingdom by air, Phuket International airport, are to comply with the following. Quoting directly: "Tourists who have stayed in Phuket for 14 nights and wish to leave Phuket must show documentary evidence to the Officers at the departure gate checkpoint at the domestic terminal or the international terminal as follows: 1. Passport and Visa validated by Phuket Airport Immigration except Thai nationals; proof of COVID-19 test showing that COVID-19 was not detected during the 14 night stay in Phuket with the document issued by an agency of the Ministry Public Health; evidence of staying in a hotel or accommodation that has received SHA Plus standards." This SHA Plus is a new euphemism, a new acronym for this Alternative State Quarantine Hotel although it is different. Alternative State quarantine you actually stay in your room for 2 weeks. SHA Plus, are these certified hotels where you can roam around the island but you have got to stay in this hotel. 

So you have got to prove that you were there for that 14 days; you have got to show your COVID test from the times you were tested throughout the 14 days. In another video we did on this channel we discussed the protocols and that periodically they do test you for COVID, the PCR testing, and you have also got to show basically your Immigration documentation to go further. 

So as of the time of this video and presumably I suspect for at least the upcoming few months, probably into the New Year we are dealing with the situation where if you want to leave Phuket you have got to prove that you remained for lack of a better term sandbox quarantined if you want to call it that. You have been on Phuket for 14 days; you have abided by the protocols and now you wish to leave Phuket Island and go into greater Thailand, you have got to undergo these protocols and then you will be allowed to go ahead and leave. 

So, these may be subject to change. As we have noted in another videos on this channel, that are specific provisions under this newly promulgated procedure that basically says if they start having an up take in cases etc., they will roll things back or they will phase in new rules. We will definitely keep folks updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
