Insurance May Be Required for Connection Flights in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Insurance. Now this was something about 6/8 months ago it was a major issue when coming into Thailand, you needed some form of Covid insurance in order to just come into Thailand. Let me be clear, let me preface this video by saying there is not a requirement to have such insurance if you are coming into Thailand as a final destination, okay. But and quoting directly from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Government U-turns on Covid Vaccination rule for visitors. There is a small excerpt in here I thought was a very important, the reason for the video. Quoting directly: "Authorities will still require foreigners whose next destination is a country requiring a negative pre-entry Covid-19 test, to show they have health insurance covering treatment for the disease Mr. Anutin said,' Mr. Anutin being the Minister of Public Health here in Thailand and Deputy Prime Minister, so “they have health insurance."

So yeah, if your onward destination requires a negative Covid test, Thailand is also going to require insurance as well when transiting through Thailand so be aware of that. If your final destination country requires again "a negative pre-entry Covid-19 test to show they have health insurance covering treatment for the disease" so if you are required to show a negative pre-entry Covid-19 test at final destination, it looks like you are going to have to have insurance in order to come through Thailand. So that is kind of where things are at as far as connecting flights. I am sure that is a relative minority of most folks going through but it's a minority of folks that this policy could pretty substantially impact so bear it in mind.

For those who are finding travel in Southeast Asia maybe specifically Thailand or other countries, anybody in the region that is finding travel in this region somewhat cumbersome and difficult due to changes in rules, flop flopping on rules, all kinds of different things, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
