Middle East War Impacting Travel Through Thailand?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing what has just broken out within the past roughly 36 hours of the making of this video, maybe even 24, is the Middle East War, the war that seems to have broken out with Iran, the US, Israel apparently and everything that's going on over there and how it's impacting travel conditions here in Southeast Asia, specifically in Thailand.
I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Thai Examiner, that is thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: Major war breaks out between United States and Iran causing chaos for air travel to Thailand at this time. Quoting directly: "Thousands of flights delayed and cancelled as Gulf closures disrupt global aviation corridors." Quoting directly: "According to FlightAware, the disruption escalated rapidly. As of 1030 GMT on Saturday, more than 9,600 flights were delayed worldwide. Additionally, more than 500 flights were cancelled. Many of the affected services were concentrated in the Middle East. Therefore, one of world's busiest aviation corridors slowed sharply within hours." Quoting further: "Qatar temporarily closed its air space. As a result, Qatar airways halted operations. The airline ranks among the largest international carriers. Similarly, the United Arab Emirates shut its skies. Kuwait followed with its own closure. Notably, both states were among those targeted by Tehran. Consequently, civilian aviation across the Gulf was suspended or rerouted. Most major airlines cancelled flights into Gulf hubs. Dubai, home to Emirates, saw immediate disruption. In addition, Indian carriers reduced services. Indigo and Air India suspended multiple routes." Yeah, I urge those who are watching this video, go check out Thai Examiner, thaiexaminer.com, that article is rather exhaustive as their output usually is from that particular platform.
Look, I think it's safe to say we are going to have travel disruptions for at least the immediately foreseeable future; I would say at least the next week or so. And then after that, I mean depending on the way that this plays out, there may be more changes to the way travel and things occur out here. So where does that leave folks? Well if you are coming to Thailand, especially from the West, you may be wanting to look at coming over the Pacific rather than going through the Middle East, at least for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, I actually have to say this could play out a bunch of different ways that could have tremendous implications in terms of the capacity or the capability even to travel into Southeast Asia, especially from the West - coming from West back over here to the East. Again going through the Middle East I would imagine is going to be less than optimal as a flight route, at least again for the immediately foreseeable future.
That said, it remains to be seen exactly how this plays out, so we will be keeping you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
