The "Pattaya Move On" Travel Scheme

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are talking about Pattaya travel. A recent article came to my attention from the Nation, that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Pattaya Move On travel scheme dead in the water - for now. The title is a little bit, I hesitate to say misleading but it doesn't quite capture all the nuance of what is going on here. Quoting directly: "The "Pattaya Move On" program is being delayed from its original commencement date of September 1 as COVID-19 cases remain high." Then it goes on to say: "The travel scheme aimed to draw foreign tourists back to the famous seaside resort like the Phuket "Sandbox" program and the Samui Plus. The Tourism Authority of Thailand revealed that the program would not go ahead on September 1 as the private sector expected but could take off in October instead." I thought that was interesting.

As we have noted in other videos we have made contemporaneously with this one, there is serious talk of re-opening or at least some kind of phased re-opening to possibly begin with an eye toward October 1. If those who recall, the Prime Minister over here noted that back in June that Thailand would be getting re-opened 120 days from that time. Well we are coming up on that. We are about a month shy of that as of the time of this video and it seems that a Pattaya re-opening probably would coincide with a wider re-opening perhaps here in Bangkok. So hopefully that will be the case as that would benefit obviously folks down in Pattaya and hopefully we can start seeing maybe even some tourism come in indirectly off of the Sandboxes in Samui and Phuket as well as maybe direct tourists coming into Pattaya sooner rather than later.
