"Russians Arrested in Bangkok for Murder"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we're discussing Foreigners Behaving Badly. This is actually a pretty - some of these Foreigners Behaving Badly videos I make and they are, I won't say humorous, but they have kind of comical element sometimes because it's often people doing something kind of silly or something they wouldn't do in another country; this was pretty heinous. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Thai Examiner, that's thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: Russians arrested in Bangkok for murder of comrade in Pattaya over an unpaid debt. Organs found missing. Quoting directly: "Police arrested two men on Sunday in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old Mikhail Emilianov in early January. Yaroslav Temidov, 35, and Dimitri Masdalev, 38, were detained at a Bangkok hotel. Investigators are focusing on whether the Russian national, who lived in Thailand for two years, was killed for his organs. Police say Emilianov owed $120,000, or about 3.7 million Baht to Russian compatriots and had received threatening messages on his phone. Officers believe he was murdered shortly after meeting the two suspects at a property in Nong Prue, Pattaya, on January 8. He is believed to have died from blunt force trauma. CCTV later showed one suspect riding Emilianov's motorbike with packages stuffed into the unlatched seat compartment as he left the property. Initially, Emilianov was reported missing after contact with his family abruptly ended. Shortly afterwards, his mother, Olga Lasabenko, became alarmed and began gathering information. As a result, she flew from Russia to Thailand and filed a missing person report on January 8 at Nong Prue Police Station. According to Lasabenko, her son had been involved in business activities in Pattaya. Before disappearing, he told her he was meeting two Russian associates to resolve financial matters. Notably, he shared his live location with her during his final movements. Meanwhile, Emilianov send a final message expressing fear for his safety. In that message, he warned that silence beyond 2 hours meant danger. Shortly after, communication stopped entirely."

Now for those who are interested, I urge those who are watching this video, go check out thaiexaminer.com. As usual, they do quite an exhaustive report on what's going on with this thing. Honestly, I thought of making this video one, we make content, it is what we do, but yeah, this high season has been an interesting one, and we're getting into February here, and it always seems like February is where the weirdness sort of happens coming off the high season. I don't know why that is, but it's just one man's observation sitting out here; that's just kind of how it seems to play, and yet again, here we are.

I've got a few more videos I'm going to be making contemporaneously with this one, a lot of them along the lines of foreigners behaving badly and I have got a lot of questions and stuff. Why do people come here and do this crazy stuff? This type of thing though, this was, again read the article but this isn't just oh, a couple of foreigners were doing something they shouldn't have been out on a beach or something somewhere. This is pretty serious criminal stuff. I have no doubt that the Police will be proactive in going after and enforcing the law on this. Arrests appear to already have been made, and again people are innocent until proven guilty here in Thailand. So again, we have to sort of hold off judgment on the ultimate guilt of anyone in this matter.

But the thing to take away from this video is for whatever reason, it seems foreigners come here from time to time and engage in behaviour that they probably would not engage in back in their home countries. The consequences are just as bad if not worse for doing this kind of stuff here. I can't imagine that if found guilty of this crime, these folks are going to spend an insignificant amount of time in Thai prison, which is about the last place you want to be. So they have got that to look forward to, I guess. That being said will certainly be keeping people updated on this channel as this situation evolves.
